"He is natural at running back," said teammate, line brother, and former roommate Donnell Brown. Edmonds explained the team "needed a guy that had experience playing offense," and that Yancey gave the squad another "weapon on offense." "He ran strong, caught the ball well, and was playing at a different speed than everyone else, and he also had great hands," said Assistant Coach Ulrick Edmonds on recruiting Yancey.Īt the beginning of the 2009 season Yancey was moved to free safety, but returned to running back for the Richmond game. Originally Yancey was recruited as a wide receiver when he entered into the program as a redshirt freshman in 2006 but was moved to running back prior to the 2007 season. At first, he committed to play at the University of Richmond, but things did not go as planned so, instead, he signed with the Dukes.
